CouchSurfing is a fantastic online based program founded in 2004. The Program was specifically made to change the revolution of travelling. Its concept connects people from all over the world and is an excellent way to get the most out of travelling.
It basically works as a giving and taking regime. Not everyone is lucky enough to have friends and family dotted throughout all parts of the world. CouchSurfing gives people the opportunity to engage in a authentic experience with locals. By signing up online and becoming a member you can then converse with other members from all around the world. Some members will be fellow travellers but other members will be hosts, opening up their home and their 'couch' to anyone they see fit to welcome. There is no money exchange and no profits to be made. The only thing that is asked upon you by staying with a host is that in return you are to then open up your 'couch' to others who are travelling.
Having stayed with family and friends throughout our travels we had learnt that being with someone who is local is a fantastic way to get the most out of each city and country. It was a no brainer for us to sign up to such a great organisation, after hearing so many fantastic stories from travellers we had met throughout that have frequently used CouchSurfing.
We can't wait to start surfing and meeting other people who share the same understanding and vision on what travelling is all about.
